Stay a while to share my thoughts on writing and life.

The summer is nearly here, and with it many outdoor temptations. It is much harder to sit and write when the sun is shining and the days are long and promising… so here is your chance to make a few competition deadlines before the laziest time of the year arrives!

The Bridport Prize, one of the richest writing competitions, attracts entries from many writers in the UK and worldwide. The deadline is June 30th.

The Seán Ó Faoláin Short Story Competition is an annual short story competition dedicated to one of Ireland’s most accomplished story writers and theorists, sponsored by the Munster Literature Centre. Their deadline is July 31st.

The Fish Short Story Prize opens for entries on June 1st.

These are just my favourite three… but there are so many wonderful opportunities to be inspired and to win awards for your writing… so what are you waiting for? Write on!
